Total Access Communication System.  Standard of mobile system using analog technology.  Operates in the 900 MHz frequency range, uses FDMA multiple access method.  (ETACS and NTACS are types of TACS).   Used in the UK, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and China.

Time Division Multiplex.  A method of serving a number of simultaneous channels over a common transmission path by assigning the transmission path sequentially to the various channels, each assignment being for a discrete time interval.
Time Division Multiple Access.  A technique where several different calls may share the same carrier.  This is done by assigning each call a particular time slot.
